Dermalogica daily superfoliant
I haven't spoken about exfoliants much which is strange as this is one of the most effective steps in your skincare routine.
There are 2 main types 'mechanical' which most of us know as the abrasive types that may have beads (micro beads are banned from this year due to the ungradable plastic which fill our oceans) salts, sugars or bamboo extracts. Or the other type 'chemical' exfoliants that may contain lactic acid, salicylic acid (AHA's or BHA's) or fruit enzymes.
Choosing the right one for you will depend on your skin type, and how/when you will be fitting it into your routine.
You may want to choose a mechanical exfoliant if you would rather use it in the shower or you may choose a chemical liquid exfoliant if you would prefer to use it on a cotton pad after you have cleansed and toned.
My new favourite was launched earlier this month and is a superfine powder exfoliant that is gentle enough to use everyday. It combines smoothing 'mechanical' rice bran powder with resurfacing 'chemical' AHA's and enzymes with charcoal to purify and absorb environmental toxins from deep within the skin.
It's gentle enough to use everyday, I use it in the evening after removing my make up and washing my face (mix 1/2 teaspoon with water to create a paste and massage over face and neck for 1 min avoiding eye area) I then follow with my daily moisturiser.
